Rita J. Lynch

"Palmer, Rita J. (Walsh) Lynch, 87, of Fletcher St., died Wednesday, Feb. 17 at Willimansett Nursing Center. Born Feb. 22, 1922 in W. Springfield to parents John J. and Edna L. (Mather) Walsh, she has lived in the area for many years. A graduate of STCC as a surgical technician, she spent most of her working career at Wellesley College in the admissions department. She was a veteran of the Marine Corp serving during WWII. A member of the Palmer Senior Center, she belonged to their Red Hat Society. Besides her parents, her husband, James J. Lynch, Jr. and a son William P. Lynch preceded her in death. She will be deeply missed by her 3 sons, James J. Lynch, III and his wife Pamela of Palmer, John M. Lynch and his wife Sally of Palmyra, ME, and Robert F. Lynch and his wife Malyn of Oceanside, CA. She also leaves 8 grandchildren, Susan North, James, Scott, Joseph, Shawn, Michelle and Thomas Lynch, and Katie Barry, as well as 9 great grandchildren. Additionally she leaves an Aunt Una Samsel and sister in law Patricia Gossman, both of Brimfield. A calling hour will be Saturday, February 20 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home, 1475 N. Main St, with a service in the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at a later date. The family wishes to thank the staff of Willimansett West Nursing Home for their tender and efficient care during her time there.
