"Robert E. Dowler, 57, of Munsell Street, died Friday, December 9. Born in Springfield, March 6, 1948, he was the son of the late Ernest and Blanche Dowler. He grew up in Springfield, and lived for a time in Granby before settling in Belchertown in 1986. A graduate of STCC and the University of Massachusetts, he held a degree in plant and soil science. He was a much-loved teacher of ornamental horticulture at Pathfinder Regional Vocational Technical High School in Palmer since 1979. He will be deeply missed by his son James of Ware, his sister Carolyn and her husband David Hibner of Sedona, AZ along with his many friends, colleagues and students. He also leaves his former wife Kathleen (Pike) Dowler of Becket. A service to remember his life will be held for his Pathfinder students and colleagues.
