Rose Emma Luippold
Aug 23, 1957 — Aug 3, 2013
"Rose Emma Sobiech Luippold born August 23, 1957, passed away August 3, 2013, due to complications from cancer, surrounded by her loving family. Rose was a mother first having raised two fine men, Adam and Patrick, who will miss her dearly. She was a loving wife to her husband of 33 years, Jack, who has lost his best friend. Rose comes from a large family: the daughter of Adam and Winifred Sobiech of Greenfield, her family Dottie and Bob Benedetti of Bernardston, Kathy Heig and Lil Zink of Toms River, New Jersey, Peg and Jim Girard of Greenfield, Mary and Michael Sullivan of Hatfield, many nieces and nephews and her sister Yvonne and brother Tony who predeceased her. Rose was a daughter to Evelyn Luippold and a sister to Mary and Al, Kathy and Frank, Jean, Ellen and Ed and David and Nancy. She was also loved by her extended family of sisters and brothers: Jean, Ellen and Ed, Susan and Bob, Paulette and Gary, Debra and Craig, Marie and Jim, and Nancy and Michael who always stood with her in the fight, and her special friend Eileen who cared for her in these final weeks. Rose obtained a bachelors Degree in English and a Masters Degree in Public Health from UMASS Amherst. Rose worked as an Epidemiologist with her friend Linda and colleague Ken Mundt and his family for many years at Environ International in Amherst. She was a fan of the Red Sox's, had a passion for hockey, gardening and a good book. Mostly she loved being with her family and friends, she adored time spent at the National SeaShore on CapeCod, most recently at Coast Guard beach. Rose was a remarkable person, always advocating for those who were overlooked, a fighter to the end, her indefatigable strength never let the disease into her life, or that of her family and friends. She will be sorely missed, yet her memory lives on in us all. Calling hours are Thursday, August 8, 2013 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Beers and Story Belchertown Funeral Home. A Funeral service will be held on Friday at 10:00 a.m. in the Belchertown United Church of Christ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made through Country Bank PO Box 668, Belchertown, MA 01007 Attn: Corinne to the Rose Luippold Scholarship Fund for a Belchertown High School graduating senior."
