Ruth E. Leja

"Belchertown - Ruth E. Leja, 67, a life long resident of Belchertown, formerly of Eastview Dr., passed away on June 19, 2013. She was born April 7, 1946 in Ware, MA, daughter of the late Walter and Annie (Hackney) Dodge. Ruth worked as a food service manager for the Belchertown School System, for 25 years. In her leisure, she loved tending to her vegetable and flowers gardens, but her passion was for the game of golf. She also enjoyed vacationing in St. Thomas with her late husband Frank. Ruth was a former member of the VFW Auxiliary. She is survived by a daughter, Tammy Russell and husband Bill of Monson and a son, Frank Leja and wife Tanya of Belchertown. She also leaves four sisters, Marie Boucher, Gladys O'Connell both of Florida, Marjorie Chevalier of Three Rivers and Daisy Syriac of Shelburne Falls and four grandchildren Ben, Hannah and Adriana Russell and Jocelyn Leja. Ruth was preceded in death by husband, Frank Leja in 2008. A Celebration of life service will be held on Monday, June 24th at 12:00 p.m. in the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home. Burial will follow in South Cemetery. Calling hours will precede the service from 10:00 a.m -12:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wing VNA & Hospice or to Belchertown EMS. "
