"Belchertown, Violet B. (Williams) Dougherty, 77, of Federal St., died Sunday, April 18 after a long illness. Born in Patterson, NY, July 20, 1932, she had lived in Chicopee for a time before moving to Belchertown in 1974. She will be deeply missed by her husband Richard, along with their 6 children, Richard, Jr. of Chicopee, Victoria Mitchell and her husband Scott of Belchertown, Patricia Kunz and her husband Kris of Vernon, CT, Catherine Berard and her husband Paul of Thorndike, Rosemarie Absous and her husband Michel of Westfield, and Martin and his wife Jean of Tolland, CT. A son, Matthew preceded her in death in 1985. One of 19 children, she leaves her 5 brothers, Bobby, Archie, and Thomas of NJ, Richard of Springfield, and Stevie of FL, along with 5 sisters, Maryanne Souza of Ware, Jeannie Uhia of Chicopee, Antoinette and Rose of NJ, and Matilda of W. VA, Her 16 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews also survive her. A funeral service will be Friday, April 23 at 10:00 a.m. at the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home, 10 Maple St, (Rte. 202) followed by burial in Notre Dame Cemetery.
