In Loving Memory

Andrea M. Rokes, 79, of Brimfield, MA, passed away May 14, 2025 with her daughters at her side. Her parents John G. McCarthy and Doris E. (Guyette) McCarthy welcomed their daughter on January 9, 1946. Andrea grew up in Keene, NH, and was a 1964 graduate of Keene High School. She then furthered her education at Mr. Bernard’s School of Hair Fashion in Lewiston, ME. 

Andrea worked many years as a Bartender in Berlin, NH, working nights and spending days at Libby’s pool with her children and best friend, Mary, and always finding time to attend her children’s sporting events and dance recitals. 

Andrea later relocated to Massachusetts and began working at the Sturbridge Host Hotel & Conference Center in Sturbridge, MA. It was here she wore many hats, assisting with reservations, working the front desk, and as a hostess in banquets. During her 25 years of employment, Andrea made many friends that soon became family. Notably, Aung and Sandy, among others, that she took under her wing. 

Andrea loved the ocean, especially Wells Beach in Maine, and spending time with her brother Tim and his wife Joanne. She loved walking on the beach, playing in the waves, and eating fresh Maine lobster, steamers, and whole belly clams, and also Marginal Way. She loved Mickey Mouse, Country music, and Elvis. 

Most of all, Andrea love her 3 daughters, Tonya Rokes of Webster, MA, Janna Andrus of Keene, NH, and Deena Rokes of Webster, MA. Additionally, she leaves her granddaughters, Chelsea Morrison and Dariane Tooley; grandsons, Ethan Andrus and Connor Andrus; great grandchildren, Braydn and Callie, and grand-fur babies; nieces and nephews, David, Danny, Debbie, Nicole, Kelly, Natalie; brother Tim McCarthy and his wife Joanne, of Indian Trail, NC; as well as many cousins. Besides her parents, Andrea was preceded in death by her sister Donna Grover on March 19, 2025. 

Services will be held at the family’s convenience. For those wishing, donations can be made in Andrea’s memory to the Brimfield Senior Center, 20 Main Street, Brimfield, MA 01010, or to an animal shelter or rescue of your choice.
