David J. Minney

Oct 1, 1935 — Jun 19, 2026

David John Minney, 90, of Ware, entered into eternal rest on June 19, 2026. David was born to Hector and Amelia (Gokey) Minney on October 1, 1935. He grew up in Ludlow, attending local schools and graduating from Ludlow High School as a multi-sport athlete, excelling in soccer and basketball, earning the nicknames "Minney Mouse" and the "Mighty Mouse." After graduating from high school, he attended Wilbraham Academy for a post graduate year where he also played soccer. David was a man of incredible pride; he was immensely proud of every single one of his life's endeavors and adventures, speaking of them often, sharing stories and laughs with friends, family, and even strangers he was meeting for the first time. He was a veteran of the United States Armed Forces, serving as a medic in the National Guard. He was an extremely honest and hardworking man and put his all into everything he did. As a young man he helped breed award winning spaniels and run kennels alongside his father. He started in the excavating business as a young man as well, working for his father's business, H.F. Minney & Son Excavating Landscaping in Ludlow. He owned and operated Ludlow Outdoor Sports, selling snowmobiles and mini-bikes and sharing his enthusiasm for them with many local residents. Later in life he started D&B Junk Removal with his wife, eventually going back into excavation as owner and operator of Minney & Sons Excavating for many years, even donating his time and equipment to create local youth sports fields and help with the creation of a playground at the local elementary school. He was an outdoorsman thru and thru, loving all outdoor activities from hunting to fishing to 4 wheeling and snowmobiling. He was a member of the Ludlow Fish & Game Club for many years, also working there in his younger years. Deer hunting, specifically as a bow hunter, was his true passion, which was witnessed immediately upon entering his prized log cabin, where he proudly displayed his many mounts. He was also a die-hard New England sports fan, never missing a Celtics, Pats, or Sox game if he could help it! He joins in eternal rest his parents, Hector and Amelia Minney; his wife, best friend, and soulmate, Barbara (Holbrook) Minney; his children, David J. Minney Jr, Brett F. Minney, Renee D. Pollack, and Allan R. Beauregard. He is survived by his two sisters; Marsha Matlasz, her son Matthew Matlasz, and her daughter, Marisa Kalesnik; Hazel Bazinet, her husband, Roger, and their son, Brian Bazinet; the grandson he proudly raised as a son who became his best friend, Aaron Wrobel and his partner, Brittany Van Etten; the granddaughters he also raised, Angela, Amy, and Ariel Pollack; his unofficially adopted daughter, Kelly Moores; his grandchildren, Alyssa Paradise and Bradley, David, Emily, and Destiny Beauregard; his great grandchildren, Kadence and Damien Brooks, Peyton Damon, and Jaice, Jailee, Jaila May, and Jailani Hall; as well as several cousins, nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Services will be held on Monday, July 6, 2026 with a prayer service to begin at 4:00pm followed by calling hours until 6:30 with military honors to close at Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in David's honor to the Massachusetts wildlife and fisheries departments or the Massachusetts department of conservation and recreation, or to another charity/organization of your choosing.
