South Hadley-Francis William Wagner Jr., passed away on June 29, 2026, at the age of 88. Born on January 15, 1938, in Holyoke, MA, Francis grew up in Chicopee and graduated from St. Jerome High School. He proudly served his country in the Army Reserves from 1959-1968 and has lived in South Hadley since 1967.
Francis was owner of 3W's Trading Post, where his passion for western and cowboy memorabilia was evident. Additionally, Francis contributed to the literary world by owning The Bookshelf, first in Chicopee and later in Westfield, providing a space for book lovers to gather and explore.
Before his ventures in retail, Francis worked at Acme Chain Corp in Holyoke, where he dedicated many years until his retirement in 1986. His leadership and commitment extended beyond his businesses, as he served as the past president of Ye CT Gun Guild for several years, reflecting his deep interest in historical and collectible firearms.
Francis was predeceased by his siblings, Armand and Claire Labrie along with his parents. He was a loving husband and is now reunited with his late wife, Elaine S. (Tetreault) Wagner who passed away in 2012. He leaves behind a devoted family, including his son William F. Wagner and his wife Cathleen, his daughter Sharon Kennedy and her husband George, and his grandson Joshua Kennedy and his fiancé Carly Heath. He is also remembered fondly by his niece Francine Phelps and family.
A time of visitation will be Saturday, July 18 from 10am to 1pm at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home. Burial will be private at future date for the family in Notre Dame Cemetery.
