Ruth Harriet Mallett
August 23, 1917 — April 23, 2016
Ruth H. Mallett passed away on April 23, 2016 at her home in Santa Cruz, at the age of 98. Ruth was born in Doon, Iowa. She lived in Iowa and Sioux Falls, South Dakota before moving to Santa Cruz in 1953.
Ruth was a loving and devoted mother and homemaker. She worked tirelessly to provide a loving home for her two daughters and in later years was a very loving grandmother and great grandmother.
In her retirement, Ruth spent many enjoyable years, travelling and spending time with her friend and companion Peter Bakich. She also loved going to the Oakland A's baseball games with her grandson Matt.
She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Perin (Tom) of Santa Cruz and Patricia Kirby (John) of King City; five grandchildren, Matthew Miller, Ellie Chapman, Rori Anne Hanna, Michelle Cantwell and Melissa Kirby; great grandchildren, Whittaker, Kaylynne, Kasen, Shyanne, Ashzton, Nathaniel, Jolene and Betty. She is also survived by two nieces and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her brother, John L. Kohnen.
A celebration of Ruth's life will be held at Benito & Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel 1050 Cayuga St., Santa Cruz, CA on Saturday May 21, 2016 at 1:00 pm. To share a memory or express your condolences to Ruth's family please visit www.pacificgardenschapel.com
