Allen R. Minckler, 76, of Gloversville passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at St. Mary's Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born September 25, 1939 in Burlington, VT, he was the son of the late Clarence and Gladys Sweeney Minckler. Allen served his country for six years in the Vermont Army National Guard. He worked for Coleco Industries in Gloversville for over 30 years until his retirement. Allen enjoyed many outdoor activities with family and friends such as camping, hunting and fishing. He also was a very talented woodworker and had a special place in his heart for his dogs. Survivors include his son Marc Norton (Charlene) of Gloversville; daughter Stacey White (Harley) of Gloversville; brothers Roger Minckler (Karen) of Gloversville, Paul Minckler (Elaine) of Boaz, AL and Howard Minckler (Linda) of Oxford, PA; sisters Beverly, Brenda and Bernie; grandchildren Marcus Norton and Kelsey Norton both of Gloversville; great grandchildren Marcus Andrew Norton and Natalie Ann Norton both of Syracuse and granddaughter-in-law Amanda Norton of Syracuse. Allen is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Bertha Seelow Minckler. Funeral services to celebrate Allen's life will be held on Friday, April 8, 2016 3 P.M. at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville with Rev. Jim Davis officiating. Calling hours to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will take place on Friday from 2 P.M. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown will be held at a late date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Allen's memory to Nathan Littauer Hospital C/O Dialysis Care Facility Project, 99 E. State Street, Gloversville, NY 12078. Arrangements have been entrusted to Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, Gloversville.
