Edward "Teddy" Farrell

January 12, 1935 — October 3, 2011

Edward "Teddy" Farrell, 76, of Watrobski Drive, passed away Monday morning at St. Mary's Hospital. Born in Amsterdam on January 12, 1935, the son of Margaret Klock Farrell and the late Robert Farrell, he was a 1952 graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School. Teddy enlisted in the US Marines in 1956 and was stationed in Okinawa during the Korean era and was honorably discharged in 1957. Teddy worked as a letter carrier for the US Postal Service in Amsterdam, retiring in 1978. In these later years, he enjoyed spending time at the local YMCA where he made many friends and spending winters with his wife in Florida at their winter home. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church. It was there that on April 27, 1958 he was united in marriage to the former Lucille Falco. In addition to his to his beloved wife of fifty three years, he leaves his daughters, April and her husband Ray Chartier of New Berlin, WI., and Gail and her husband Craig Aldous of Ballston Spa; grandchildren Nicole and Alex Chartier and Maegan and Heather Aldous, his mother, Margaret Pawlowski of Amsterdam; sisters Roberta Gentile of Johnstown and Rosemary Thomas Lais of Amsterdam; nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his father, a brother Ronald Farrell also predeceased him. Ron's wife Ida Farrell lives in Arizona. Services are Friday at 8:15 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by the Mass Of Christian Burial at 9:15 am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Fr. Lawrence J. Decker, celebrant. Interment will follow with military honors in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday from 4-7 pm at the funeral home. Teddy loved all animals, especially cats, and the family suggests memorials be made in his name to the Montgomery County SPCA in care of the funeral home office.
