Florence H. Salvatore

Florence H. Salvatore, 103, of Amsterdam, NY, has gone to her eternal rest on Monday, December 5th, 2016. Born on January 10th, 1913, in Amsterdam NY, she was the daughter of the late Hazel Van Patten and John Hinkle. Florence graduated from the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School and soon after married the love of her life George Salvatore. It was a beautiful union that lasted until his passing on March 2nd, 1994. Florence spent many years employed by the Law Office of Harry V. Borst which was once formally located on 46 East Main Street in Amsterdam. Florence went on to work for the New York State Taxation and Finance Department; a job she held until her retirement in March of 1991. Florence was a promoter of the Miraculous Medals. She was hardworking, dedicated, and truly loved spending time with her family. Florence is survived by her son Robert Salvatore. She is predeceased by her beloved husband George; her parents, Hazel and John Hinkle; her sister Hazel Greene; and her brother John Hinkle. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, December 9th, 2016 at 11:15am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church, 39 St. John Street, Amsterdam, NY, with Rev. Lawrence Decker as Celebrant. Interment will immediately follow at St. Michael's the Archangel Cemetery on Widow Susan Road in Amsterdam. Family and friends are invited to attend a calling hour from 10-11am prior to Mass at the church.
