Frances Marks

Mrs. Frances “Fran” Marks, 88, of Amsterdam, NY died peacefully on Friday, March 13, 2020 surrounded by her family. Born in Amsterdam, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Sophie Kukowski. A lifelong city resident, Fran was a 1949 graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School. Following graduation, she first worked for the NY Telephone Company and later St. Mary’s Hospital until her retirement in 1996. On December 1, 1956 she was united in marriage to George W. Marks. That union lasted 25 years until his untimely passing on July 16, 1981. Fran enjoyed listening to Polka music, taking walks and enjoying life. Her greatest joy was being “Grandma Frannie” and playing her favorite card game “Scat” with her grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Survivors include her two daughter, Karen Ogborn (Lew) and Kim (Dennis) Riley; five grandchildren, Michael (Kim) Ogborn, Nicholas (Stephanie) Ogborn, Meg Elizabeth Riley, Marc LaBahn and Jon LaBahn; three great grandchildren, Molly Ogborn, Madelyn Ogborn and Isabel Ogborn. A Prayer Service will be offered on Monday, March 16, 2020 at 11a.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam with Rev. Pascal Iannotti officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Private burial will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the medical staff of St. Mary’s Hospital 3rd Floor and the ER for outstanding care extended to Fran.
