Mrs. Gloria J. Varsoke, 92, formerly of Amsterdam, NY died peacefully on January 20, 2019. Born in Amsterdam she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Viola Taylor. She attended local schools and was a 1943 graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School.
On October 16, 1948 she was united in marriage to Frank J. Varsoke at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. That union ended after nearly 57 years with his passing in 2005.
Gloria was employed by Mohawk Carpets. She was active in the Perth Central School PTA and as a Brownie Troop Leader. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include three daughters, Gail (Richard) Stevens of Orrs Island, Maine, Patricia Bell (Baird Jones) of Lanexa, Virginia and Karin (Gene) Joubert of Broadalbin, New York; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Trevor) Mullen, Karrie (Culley) Thomas, Beau (Cara) Jones, Elizabeth (David) Young, Nikki VanCuren (fiancé Mike Loveless), Stephanie (Dave) Ravinski; 11 great grandchildren, Grace, Finnegan, Fischer, Ellis, Becket, Reace, Madeline, Jordan, Dakota, Austin and Cayden; one brother, Ralph (Betty) Taylor; nieces and nephews.
A Legacy Candle Ceremony will be held on Monday, January 28, 2019 at 6p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam. Calling hours will precede the ceremony beginning at 4p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Hagaman where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.
