Henry G. Mars, 80, of Youngs Corners Road, passed away Sunday afternoon at his home after a long illness. Born December 8, 1931 in Amsterdam, NY, he was the son of the late Clarence and Mary Rockwell Mars. He was a life long area resident and was a graduate of the Fultonville High School and later served in the local National Guard in Amsterdam. Henry was employed for a few years by General Electric Company of Schenectady and then worked for the Niagara Mohawk Company, in the gas division, in Amsterdam until he retired in 1986. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, his flowers and cats. Henry also looked forward to coaching in the Woestina Little League. On February 15, 1953 he married the former Ruth A. Starke who passed away April 21, 2004. He was also predeceased by a grandson John Tylutki who passed away in 1989. Survivors include a son; David H. Mars of the Town of Florida and his companion Cindy Krywulych; a daughter, Judith A. Tylutki and her husband Anthony Tylutki of the Town of Glen; three grandchildren, Lisa Tylutki Chatterton, Matthew Mars and Kristin Mars; four great grandchildren, Tyler Henderson, Alexis Henderson, Grace Chatterton and Emma Chatterton; a sister, Mildred Lombardi and husband John of Forest, VA; a special cousin, Linda Stark and her husband Laverne of VA; one niece, Lynette Lombardi, one nephew, John Lombardi and cousins also survive. Funeral services will be held on Thursday January 12, 2012 at 11:00am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY, Rev. Cynthia Leonard officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Amsterdam. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Henry's memory to the Florida Volunteer Fire Department, 6252 State Highway 30, Amsterdam, NY 12010 or to the Ayres Memorial Animal Shelter, 133 Hilltop Road, Sprakers, NY 12166.
