Mr. James J. Anderson, 61 of Phillips St., Amsterdam passed away Thursday morning at St. Mary?s Hospital.
Born on April 25, 1945 he was the son of the late James and Sadie Gomula Anderson. He was a lifelong area resident and was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School.
In September of 1965 he joined the armed services, and began a six-year career with the Unites States Air Force. In 1971 he was honorably discharged.
When Jim returned home he became a carpenter with the local 370, and worked up until the onset of his illness. He was also a communicant of St. Mary?s Roman Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mary ?Penny? Anderson whom he married on May 16, 1970; one daughter, Christy Anderson of Amsterdam; one son, Jason P. Anderson of Glenville; two sisters, Dorothy Tiemann of Glenville and Patricia Cassella of Ft. Johnson; Sister-in-law, Patricia Mroczka and her husband Steven of Amsterdam; Brother-in-law, Jack Lang and his wife Latefa of Schenectady; and close friends, Gary and Judy Zaklukiewicz of Amsterdam.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday at 8a.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9a.m. at St. Mary?s Roman Catholic Church, 156 East Main Street Amsterdam. Interment with full military honors will take place in St. Mary?s Cemetery, Ft. Johnson. Relatives and friends were invited to call Friday evening from 5 until 8 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary?s Church Memorial Fund, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam.
