John R. Potts, 83, of Burley Road passed away, unexpectedly, Thursday, June 26, 2008, at his home. He was born in Scotic Landing, NY July 9, 1924 a son of the late Frank and Kathryn Potts.
John was a life resident of the area and was raised in Amsterdam. He married the former Barbara Tennant, of VanHornsville on June 26, 1971, who predeceased him on Monday of this week. He then joined Barbara in Eternal Life for their 37th Wedding Anniversary.
John was a member of the Teamsters Local # 194 and is a US NAVY Veteran of WWII. He is also a retired Truck Driver for the former Boss-Linco Trucking in Amsterdam. He enjoyed spending winters in Florida with his wife, reading, playing cards, and spending time with his children and grandchildren, and his dogs. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his son Michael Potts in 1994, and several brothers and sisters.
His loving family includes his daughters, Darlene Michael Bullock of Fultonville, LeeAnne David Cardali of Macon, GA, and Molly Milan Ralbovsky of Johnstown, his son, Mark Potts of Broadalbin, and his grandchildren, Brittany Bullock, Asia Lee Potts, Martina Potts, Alessandro Cardali and Sophia Cardali. Several other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral Services will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 28, at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam with Rev. Cynthia Leonard, officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends 2 hours prior to services from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Barbara and John's memory may be made to the Glen Volunteer Fire Department, 134 Auriesville Road, Fultonville, NY 12072.
