John D. Strauss

Amsterdam- John D. Strauss, 85, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2026 with his loving family by his side. He was born in Amsterdam, New York to the late John and Myra Strauss. John was the beloved husband to Diane Strauss. They have been together for 58 years.

John worked as a pipefitter for the local 7 union in Albany until his retirement.

John enjoyed spending time with his family and going to the beach. He was an avid boater. John had a passion for cars and motorcycles. Most of all, John cherished the time he and Diane spent in Florida in the winter months.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by his son, Michael (Michelle) Strauss; his sister, Joan (the late Frank) Kozlowski; and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and friends.

In addition to his parents, John is predeceased by his son, John Robert (Cheryl) Strauss; his brother Ted (Mona) Strauss.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in John's name to your local hospice.
