Leland F. Rose, 86, of Union St. Fultonville, NY passed away early Wednesday July 13, 2005 at Albany Medical Center Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Charleston, NY on August 5, 1918 a son of Charles and Ruth VanDerveer Rose. He was a lifelong area resident and attended Rural Grove, NY schools.
Mr. Rose was an Army Air Corps Veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific Theatre as an A20 Tail Gunner and Photographer flying in over 95 missions.
He was worked in construction for most of his life for the Laborers Union Local 157 retiring in 1980.
He married Nadine Wright Rose on November 30, 1945.
In addition to his wife survivor?s include one son, George L. Rose and his wife Debbie of Amsterdam; one daughter, Christy J. Desmarais of Fultonville, NY; one brother, Robert Rose of Fultonville, NY;
two sisters, Dorothy Kilmartin of Randall, NY and Ruth Stevens of Fultonville, NY; two grandchildren, Jerry Rose and his wife Heather of Fultonville, NY & Jessica Desmarais of Amsterdam; several nieces, nephews and cousins and two beloved family pets, Cheyenne & Sonny also survive.
He was pre-deceased by a son in law, Jerry Desmarais who died in 2002, and a daughter in law, Aida Rose in 1995.
Funeral Services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Interment is in Maple Avenue Cemetery, Fultonville, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to the Montgomery County SPCA, State Highway 5S, Amsterdam, NY 12010 or to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 678, Montgomery Unit, Amsterdam, NY 12010. Arrangements are under the direction of the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main St. Fultonville, NY 12072
