Martha Elaine Freer

Martha Elaine Freer, a vibrant soul and cherished pillar of her community, passed away at the age of 81 on Monday, June 17, 2024, at Cobleskill Regional Hospital. Born on May 24, 1943, in Norwich, Elaine was the beloved daughter of Cedric and Helen (Thornton) Hogensen. A proud graduate of Otselic Central School, she furthered her education at Spencer’s Business School before embarking on a fulfilling career at National Grid as a customer service representative.

Elaine's passion for art was evident in her beautiful paintings, many of which she joyfully shared with others through sales. Her unique sense of style and flair perfectly mirrored her vibrant personality, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her. An adventurer at heart, Elaine relished in traveling and camping with her family, embracing every experience with courage and enthusiasm.

Above all, Elaine's role as a loving wife to Edward Freer, a devoted mother to Daniel (Amy) and Thomas, and an adoring grandmother to Nathanial, Danielle, William, and Finnegan, was where she shone the brightest. Her warmth, love, and laughter enriched the lives of her family and friends, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

As we bid farewell to Elaine, we celebrate the remarkable legacy she leaves behind—a legacy of love, artistry, and adventure. Her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us, just as the stars she so loved to paint will continue to illuminate the night sky. Elaine's memory will forever be a treasure in our hearts.

Calling hours for Elaine will be held on Friday, July 12, 2024, from 4pm until 7pm at Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 11:30 at Wayside Rest Pharsalia Cemetery, McDonough, New York.
