Paula Rodriguez

Paula Rodriguez, 76, of Division Street in Amsterdam passed away peacefully in the arms of her grandson at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam on May 3, 2013. She was born in Las Piedras, Puerto Rico on July 27, 1936, the daughter of the late Manuel and Ginia Santana Rodriguez. Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Paula worked at hospitals in the textile department. In 1961 she and her family moved to Amsterdam, NY. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Paula loved to dance and play dominos. Every holiday and get together, she enjoyed cooking for her family. Her loving family includes a son, Jose Lopez Santa of Amsterdam, daughter Lillian Solis of Amsterdam; sisters, Marta and Claudia Rodriguez of Bayamon, PR, Petra Troche and Carmen Rodriguez of Amsterdam. She is also survived by beloved grandchildren she helped raise, Victor Mendez, Gilbert Vasquez, Magaline Torres and Catherine Lopez along with several other grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and friends are invited to a funeral service that will be held at 1:30pm, Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at the Betz Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave. Amsterdam NY 12010. Fr. John Medwid will officiate. Burial will take place following the service at St. Michael's Cemetery in Amsterdam.
