Ronald L. Hastings

Ronald L. Hastings, 73, of Johnstown NY, has passed away suddenly on Saturday January 9th, 2016. Born on November 17th, 1942, he was the son of the late Frederick and Mabel Hastings. A graduate of Johnstown High School, Ronald managed his own dairy farm for over 45 years. In June of 1987 Ronald was presented with The Farmer of The Year Award. He married the love of his life Eileen Johnson on April 9th, 1961. It was beautiful union that lasted 42 years before her passing in 2003. Ronald is survived by his sons; Richard (Betsy) Hastings, and Eric Hastings, His daughters; Sharon (Joseph) Gravelle, and Susan Hastings, his grandchildren; Sabrina, Craig, Kevin, Heather, Matthew, Kenneth, Katherine, Kimberly, and Jacob, his great grandchildren, his two sisters, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ronald is predeceased by his beloved wife Eileen Hastings, his daughter Carol Myers, his parents, and his 3 brothers. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday January 13th, 2016 from 5-9pm at Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville NY, 12072. A funeral Service will be held on Thursday January 14th at 11am at Jackson & Betz Funeral Home with Rev. Christopher Hamm presiding. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, 296 Martin Road, Fonda NY, 12025. In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution in Ronald's honor may be made to the Montgomery County SPCA, P.O Box 484, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
