Thomas Tretiak
June 27, 1930 — December 6, 2005
Thomas Tretiak, Jr., 75, of Bunn Street, Amsterdam, passed away Tuesday morning December 6, 2005 at Montgomery Meadows Residential Health Care Facility in Amsterdam.
Born in Amsterdam, New York on June 27, 1930 he was a son of Thomas and Nastazzja ?Nellie? Lilek Tretiak, Sr. He was a lifelong area resident and was a 1948 graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam.
Mr. Tretiak worked for many years as a milk delivery person and was well known in the Amsterdam and surrounding areas. He first worked at Buchman?s Dairy, then the Nadler Brothers Dairy and most recently Skiff?s Dairy of Johnstown, NY.
He married Mildred Osgood Tretiak on February 16, 1952 she passed away on July 29, 1996.
Mr. Tretiak is survived by two sons, John Tretiak of Virginia & William Tretiak and his companion Debbie Lloyd of Corinth, New York; two daughters, Christine Montenaro and her husband David of Amsterdam and Susan Taber and her husband John of Amsterdam; a sister-in-law, Doris Tretiak of Galway, New York; three grandchildren, Paul and David Montenaro of Amsterdam and Jessica Taber also of Amsterdam; two great-grandchildren, Aaric Montenaro and Ani Bogran; nieces and nephews also survive.
He was pre-deceased by one brother, Theodore Tretiak, and one sister, Julia Krutz.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2005 at 11:00AM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, New York with Father James Gulley presiding. Interment will take place in the spring in Greenhill Cemetery, Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday from 5-7PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to G.A.V.A.C., P.O. Box 11, Amsterdam, New York, 12010, or to the American Cancer Society, Montgomery Unit, 260 Osborne Road, Loudonville, New York, 12211.
