March 14, 1921 — November 6, 2015

Vincent Cerra, 94, of Amsterdam, passed away Friday November 6, 2015 at the E.L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility in Amsterdam with his loving family at his side. Born in Bella Di Nicastro, Prov. Calabria, Italy on March 14, 1921 a son of the late Antonio and Lisabetta Leone Cerra. He moved to Amsterdam, NY in 1954. Mr. Cerra was first employed at the former Lou's Supermarket in Amsterdam. He later worked for Mohasco Corp. and Ward Products also in Amsterdam. He last worked as a machinist for 15 years for the General Electric Company in Schenectady, NY retiring in 1983. Vincent enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, dancing, gardening, growing fig trees and tomatoes. He married Antoinette DiSpena Cerra on June 9, 1946. She passed away on May 25, 1973. Mr. Cerra is survived by his son, Anthony (Cecilia) Cerra of Albany, NY. Two daughters, Maria (Carmel) Greco of Perth, NY and Paula (James) Perry of Madison, CT. Eight grandchildren, David, Peter, Matthew, Antonia, Michael, Brian, Katie and Erica. Three great-grandchildren, Lucy, Nicholas and Regan. His companion, Marilyn Carusone of Amsterdam. Vincent was predeceased by grandchildren, Jason Cerra and Jimmy Perry. The family would like to say thank you to 3rd Floor nursing and staff at the Wilkinson Facility for the loving care extended to their father. Also to Dr. John Fedullo and Community Hospice of Amsterdam Nurses and volunteers for all of their support. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at 10:15AM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:15AM at Our Lady Of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, 39 St. John St., Amsterdam with Rev. Lawrence J. Decker as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday November 10, 2015 from 4:00 to 7:00PM at the funeral home.
