Alfred D. West

Mr. Alfred D. "Big Al" West, 64, of Johnstown, NY , passed away on Friday May 4, 2018 at the Albany VA Medical Center following a brief illness. Born in Amsterdam, NY on September 5, 1953 a son of the late Alfred and Lucille Morehouse West Sr. He was a lifelong area resident. Mr. West was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was a self-employed auctioneer and was the owner of A & D Auction Services in Amsterdam for many years. He attended Crossroads Christian Church in Amsterdam. He is survived by his son, David West of Fonda, NY. He cherished his grandchildren, Jordan Forsey, Danial West, and Nickolas West. Al also leaves behind his beloved pet dog, Rocket. Funeral Services will be held on Friday May 18, 2018 at 10:00A.M. at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY. A Reception and Celebration of Life will follow beginning at 11:00 AM at the Foresters Club, 213 East State Street, Gloversville, NY 12078. There are no calling hours.
