Bernard H Kessler

Bernard Kessler, 82, passed away peacefully on 18 July 2026.

Born and having grown up in France, his life journey took him to South Africa, to where the French construction company he  worked for had sent him to open a subsidiary and where he met his wife, Uschi, and became a father to his much-loved son Simon. 

His son and wife had settled in America, the reason for Bernard and Uschi to follow to the US to be near the young family with three children.

His presence was calm,his curiosity and knowledge extensive, and his wit added entertainment to daily life.

He loved reading, treasured his large and varied selection of books, and reading the daily newspaper every morning was a must to start the day.

Sports played an important part in his life and especially cycling topped the list.

His love of dogs brought them into the family, enriching life with love and joy and daily walks. 

Music was another passion of his from jazz to classical music to French chansons.

His life was defined by deep love, quiet strength, loyalty and unwavering support for his wife and family. 

Bernard is survived by his wife Uschi, Son Simon, Daughter-in-law Vanessa, and three grandchildren Hannah, Chloe, Sage, and leaves behind special friends who will miss him. 

After Cremtion his ashes will be scattered in places that add meaning to his life. The Celebration of Bernard's Life will be held among family, who are deeply grateful for the gift of his life and who will cherish his memory forever.
