Blanche Gertrude Schaffer

A funeral for Blanche Gertrude Schaffer, 104, formerly of Chico, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 26 at Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chico. She died July 10, 2025, in Largo, Florida. Blanche was born Sept. 9, 1920, in Edgemont, SD to Harley & Margaret Good. She married Gerhard (Gerry) Schaffer in Chadron, NB on November 17, 1941. In 1943 they found themselves in Chico, CA; they like it so much they decided to settle down, build a house, and raise a family. In 1952 they had a son, Jerry Lee. Blanche was a stay-at-home mom, and in later years she worked at The Fashion clothing store in the North Valley Plaza Mall before retiring. She was a member of the Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chico.

She was preceded in death by 5 younger brothers and sisters, her husband Gerry in 2002, and her grandson Kelly in 2009.

Survivors include her son Jerry, his wife Brenda, grandson Derick Schaffer, his wife Danielle, and great-grandson Jace.

Visitation will be at Brusie Funeral Home on July 25th from 4:00 to 6:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church.
