On October 7th, Carl Winneford May passed away at Enloe Hospital in Chico, CA. His wife, Eileen Maxine May, preceded him in 2005.
Carl was born July 30, 1926, in Chowchilla to Chester and Hazel May.
He graduated from Westwood High School in 1944. He then joined the United States Navy and served his country two and a half years during World War II in Guam and Spain.
Carl was on the Oakland Police Department for 25 years. He finished his career as a security officer at the Nugget in Carson City for 17 years. He and his wife, Maxine moved to Chico in 1994.
Carl is survived by his brother, Melvin May and his wife, Jean of Modesto; nephew, Robert and his wife Billie, nieces, Sheryl Scheel and Jeannette May, of Chico; niece, Taryn Way and her husband Allen, and many other nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be on Monday, October 13th from 5 until 8 p.m. in the chapel of the Brusie Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, October 14th at 11 a.m. at the Chico Cemetery.
Anyone wishing to make a memorial donation in Carl's name may do so to the Jesus Center or the Salvation Army in care of the Funeral Home.
