James Alva Geiger
James Alva Geiger was born on July 14, 1946 in French Camp, Ca. He passed away September 5, 2017 in Chico, CA. James, better known as Jim, grew up in Stirling City, CA. After graduating from Paradise High School he attended Shasta College in Redding, CA where he met the love of his life, Caroline Carpenter. In 1965 Jim enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was stationed on Guam where he pursued a lifelong interest in aviation. On July 31, 1967 while stationed on Guam he married Caroline. Jim remained in the military for 6 years. Upon returning to Shasta College, he graduated with a degree in Aeronautical Mechanics. He spent the first part of his career in the private aviation sector as a mechanic and pilot, before completing his career as a maintenance instructor for United Airlines.
After retirement, Jim enjoyed spending time outdoors doing activities such as fishing, hunting, off-roading and traveling. He never passed up the opportunity to spend as much time as possible with his family and friends.
Jim is survived by his wife of 50 years Caroline Geiger, 3 children: Steven Geiger, Susan Hoska, and Kenneth Geiger; his mother Betty Catlin; sister Virginia Snyder, and 6 loving grandchildren.
A Graveside Service will be held at Chico Cemetery on Friday, September 15 at 11:00 a.m.
