Lamar Fisher

Lamar Norbert "Prof" Fisher died 10 September 2009 at Enloe Hospital, Chico CA., in the presence of family and a close friend. A funeral service will be held at the Chico-Leland Stanford Lodge, No. 111, F&AM, 1110 W. East Ave., Chico, CA. at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday September 15, 2009. Lamar was born April 25, 1926 in Chico, CA to Charles Raymond and Marie Fisher. He grew up in Chico and was a graduate of Chico Senior High School and received a BA degree in Business from Chico State. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the Pacific Theater. Lamar was an Interior Decorator for 38 years working at Chico Interiors, Oser's of Chico, Chico Carpet and Interiors, Westfield's and Standard Brands. He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol, Masonic Lodge and Ben Ali Shriners. Additionally, he served the American Amateur Union Swimming Association for 30 years. Senior Professor Lamar "Prof" Fisher, Judan, lived his life practicing jujitsu, until his passing, beginning in 1948, when he first became a student of Professor Bud Estes. He taught at the Chico Judo and Jusitsu Academy from 1950 to 1972, achieving the rank of professor in 1956. Prof Fisher taught women's self-defense courses for 10 years at Butte College. In 1981, he became school head of the Nibukikan in Chico, CA. Prof Fisher was the current Senior Professor of the AJJF up to his passing. Lamar is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Charlotte "Betty" Elizabeth Fisher, and his three sons and their spouses; Dennis and Mary Fisher of Spanish Fork, UT, Gary and Patricia Fisher of Germantown, MD, and Marlan and Gloria Fisher of Chico, CA., 12 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
