Delmer "Del" Leonard Craven, Jr.

December 16, 1957 — May 24, 2026

Del Leonard Craven Jr, 68, passed away on May 24th, 2026, in Oregon City, surrounded by the family he loved and protected throughout his life. Del was born to Delmer Leonard Craven Sr and Charleen Craven of Portland Oregon. Born on December 16th, 1957, in Portland, Oregon, Del spent 35 years as a proud resident of Canby, where he built a life rooted in loyalty, laughter, and deep devotion to the people he cared for.

Del served in the National Guard shortly after high school and later became a commercial truck driver before building a successful career as an owner-operator specializing in long‑distance moving. He approached his work the same way he approached his life — with dedication, steadiness, and a heart big enough to carry others through whatever came their way.

More than anything, Del was the protector of his family. He was the one who held the center, the one whose presence made everyone feel safe, connected, and grounded. His love wasn’t something he talked about often — it was something he lived. You could feel it in the way he showed up, the way he paid attention, and the way he made sure the people he loved never had to face life alone.

But Del’s strength was matched by his warmth. He had a rambunctious sense of humor, a spark that could lift a room, and a gift for turning ordinary moments into memories. Whether he was firing up the BBQ, cheering for the Oakland Raiders, or simply sharing a laugh, Del brought people together with ease and joy.

Del was preceded in death by his youngest son, Taylor Craven. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Craven of Canby; his son, Justin Craven of Scappoose; and his daughter, Cassandra Craven of Canby. He also leaves behind three grandchildren — Abby, Aria, and Anthony — who were the light of his life. Del is further survived by his siblings: Frank Martin of Florida, and Kay Douglas and Laurie Swanson‑Queen, both of Gresham.

He will be remembered not only for his devotion and his humor, but for the way he made people feel — loved, protected, and part of something bigger than themselves. Del’s heart was his legacy, and it lives on in every person who was lucky enough to know him.

He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
