Vickie Kerwood

Vickie Lynn Kerwood (Powell), 79 Years old, passed away on April 13th 2026 in Fort Collins, Colorado surrounded by her two sons, Chris and Dustin.

Vickie was born in Fort Collins, on January 24th 1947 to her loving parents Roland Duane Powell and Virginia Powell. Vickie started High School at Fort Collins High School but moved to Poudre High School where she would be part of the first graduating class in 1965.

Vickie was a tremendous artist and left with her family masterpieces that look as though they were painted by world famous artists. She spent her younger years mastering this craft by being professionally trained by Peggy Hess.

Vickie met a young man named Ivan Kerwood. Ivan took Vickie to Mary Poppins on their first date and soon they would become what Ivan would describe as the best friendship of his life and they married on November 5th, 1966, in front of friends and family. Vickie and Ivan had just about the most loving marriage for just short of 53 years when Ivan passed. Each of them, always taking care of each other through life's ups and downs. In October of 1968 they would have their first son Christopher Allen Kerwood and in August of 1980 their second son Dustin Timothy Kerwood. Vickie was about as devoted and loving of a mother as Chris and Dustin could ask for. Packing up the car to attend BMX races all over the state and showing her face at every single baseball game played. Dustin tells a story of her listening to sports radio for 3 hours daily just to hear the few minutes he would be on the radio when he worked at a sports radio station.

Vickie would take her artistic ability mentioned above and become a cake decorator. She made countless wedding cakes for couples in our community as well as just about every wedding cake in her family. The work she did for family members and couples on those wedding cakes is something all of those people will treasure.

Vickie was preceded in death by her parents Virginia Powell and Roland Duane Powell and her loving husband Ivan Kerwood. Vickie is survived by her two loving sons Dustin Kerwood and Christopher Kerwood and his wife Celeste Morrison. As well as Vickie’s sister Dixie Loyd, niece Julie and Dayton Norrgard and nephew Jeff and Lauri Loyd.

Graveside funeral services will be on Thursday April 23rd at 1 PM at Foothills Garden of Memories 14241 N. 107th Street Longmont, CO 80504 with a Celebration of Life to follow between 2-4 PM at the Aspen Room at the St. Vrain Memorial Building, 700 Longs Peak Avenue.
