Glenda Sue Quillen

July 24, 1945 — May 16, 2026

Glenda Sue Lynn Quillen, age 80, passed away peacefully at home on May 16, 2026, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Glenda was born in Putnam County, Tennessee, to the late Asa and Etta Lynn. She worked as a seamstress for many years, a profession that suited her because of her talent with a needle and thread. Her talents didn’t stop at sewing - she had many creative gifts, and loved spending time crocheting, painting, and writing. Her family will cherish the many beautiful quilts, paintings and writings she created. Glenda also loved reading, cooking, canning and gardening, and was a master at growing flowers, vegetables and herbs. She also gave back to her community by volunteering with Meals on Wheels and her local food pantry.

Glenda’s greatest joy was her family. She treasured every moment spent with the people she loved. She is survived by her son, Eric Quillen and daughter-in-law Julie Quillen; daughter Robin Kindle and son-in-law Joel Kindle; son Elliott Quillen and daughter-in-law Emmy Athanasiou; grandchildren, Ryan Quillen and Logan Quillen; brother, Bill Lynn; special niece, Lisa Burgess; numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins; beloved fur baby, Penny, and six fur grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Quillen; sister, Ann Burgess, who was like a mother to her; brothers James Lynn and Robert Lynn; and cherished fur baby, Jake.

Glenda faced her cancer diagnosis like all other challenges in her life - with determination and grace. Her faith was a steady presence in her life, and prayer helped carry her through both joyful and difficult times. She held close the Serenity Prayer, which reflected the way she tried to live: "God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference."

In accordance with her wishes, Glenda will be cremated, and the family will hold a private service and scatter her ashes at locations that hold special meaning to them. The family asks that anyone wishing to honor her memory consider donating to a food pantry, animal shelter or other charitable organization of their choosing.

Glenda will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
