Howard William Olinger

Howard William Olinger of Kingsport, TN passed away peacefully on Monday, May 18, 2026, with his family by his side after a period of declining health. He was born on November 14, 1925, to the late Thomas and Sally B. Olinger. Howard lived a life defined by love, sacrifice, and devotion to his family and above all he loved God! He enjoyed riding his bicycle until the age of 88. Howard also enjoyed working on small engines and spending time with his family. Howard was a kind and compassionate friend to all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, Howard was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ina G. Olinger; son, Harold Olinger; daughter, Barbara Olinger Nelms; and brothers, Lee Marshall Olinger and J.C. Olinger.

Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Jerry Olinger and Jeff Olinger; daughters, Teresa Clark and husband John, Sharon Kay Robinson; grandsons, Corey Nelms and wife Hannah, Dylan Nelms; along with several nieces and nephews.

A graveside will be conducted on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at 2:00 pm at East Lawn Memorial Park with Pastor Johnny Gibson officiating. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:50 pm.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
