Lura JoAn Haga

Lura JoAn Haga ,92, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by friends June 16th, 2026.

She was born July 20,1933 to Austin and Drusilla Haga in Louisville, Kentucky. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Austin Douglas, Jr. and her sister Shirley Davis. She is survived by nieces and nephews.

Joan loved music and was an accomplished singer and trumpet player.

She was a member of the gospel group

“Sweethearts Of Song” and was privileged to tour with many Southern Gospel Greats throughout her career. She had a close friendship with Vestal of “The Happy Goodmans”.

Of her many career achievements, she was most proud of her work as a Respiratory Therapist while working at Northwest Community Hospital and Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.

She retired to Tennessee and spent many years traveling and enjoying countless hours with her friends.

She never met a stranger and adopted many over the years as her “kids”. She was an Aunt, Momma or Mamaw to all who knew her. She had a beautiful soul that drew many to her, and they knew she truly loved and cared for them. Words cannot express the depth of love everyone felt for her, and she will be forever missed.

Burial arrangements are by Carter-Trent Funeral Home with a brief viewing Saturday, June 20th at 5pm.

She will be laid to rest next to her parents at Louisville Memorial Gardens West, Louisville, Kentucky, Tuesday, June 23rd.

There will be a Memorial Service at Mercy Seat Ministries, 2315 E. Center St. Kingsport, TN. on June 28th at 6pm.
