Melissa “Missy” Ramey Whitson, age 45, of Johnson City, TN, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 22, 2026, in St. Augustine, FL. She was a graduate of Volunteer High School and was currently employed at Eastman Chemical Company.
Missy loved to sew, quilt, and work in her flower bed. She enjoyed traveling in her free time.
Missy was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Kortnee Lee-Ann Ramey; maternal and paternal grandparents, Carl Ramey Sr., and Kathleen, William and Edna Dean; uncle, Lynn Ramey; nephew, Joshua Lott; and fur baby Koko-Puff.
Those left to cherish Missy’s memory are her son, Gauge Whitson; father and mother, Carl Ramey Jr., and Joyce Ramey; sister, Alisha Calton (Josh); half-sisters, Karen Trotter (Tommy) and Joyce Lozier; half-brother, Chris Ramey; nieces, Savannah Calton and Emily Lott; nephews, Jackson Calton, Codi Trotter, Westley Trotter, Mason Bruce, and Jack Ramey; special uncle, Danny Dean; and special friend, Matt Stone; her beloved fur babies, Lilo and Nala; and a host of aunts, uncles and extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 pm on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at Carter Trent Funeral Home in Church Hill. A funeral service will follow with Rev. Samuel Newland and Evangelist Josh Calton officiating. Burial will take place immediately following the funeral at Church Hill Memory Gardens with Gauge Whitson, Matt Stone, Chuck Ramey, Jackson Calton, Josh Calton, and Danny Dean serving as pallbearers.
The care of Melissa “Missy” Ramey Whitson and her family has been entrusted to the staff of Carter Trent Funeral Homes.
