Betty Jo Strong

Betty Jo Peters Strong 88, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 22, 2026, at her home with her family by her side. She was born in Kingsport, TN to the late Wilburn and Omie Peters. Betty was a devoted member of Walnut Chapel Primitive Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Elder Paul Strong; sisters, Vendetta McConnell and Emogene Peters; brother, Houston Peters.

Survivors include her daughters, Teresa Hurd, Sharon Thompson and husband Ken; son, Steve Strong and wife Clarisse; grandchildren, Traci Hamilton, David Hamilton, Rachel Ollis, and Maria Ollis; great grandchildren, Warren and Allie Hamilton; along with a host of friends and extended family.

The family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm on Friday, June 26, 2026, at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Church Hill. A funeral service will follow with Bro. Casey Skelton officiating. Music will be provided by the Swatsell family.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11am on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Church Hill Memory Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50am.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choosing.
