Billie Jo Clemons

Billie Jo "Ferrell" Clemons, age 83, of Rogersville, TN, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital in Kingsport. She finished her earthly journey in the presence of her loving family and went to rest with, Eckel, Sr., Johnny and others who have gone on before. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who never met a stranger. Although she attended several churches throughout her lifetime, her favorite years of serving the Lord were when she and Johnny sang together while Dustin played guitar for them. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eckel M. Clemons, Sr.; son, Johnny W. Clemons; and several other family members. She is survived by her son, Eckel M. Clemons, Jr.; grandchildren, Athena "Clemons" Bradshaw, Rachael, Dustin and Belinda Clemons; great-grandchildren, Dakota and Kristal Bradshaw; companion, Charles "Slick" Light; and life-long friend, Opal McMurray. The family would like to thank the Indian Path Medical Center, 5th floor nurses; Andrea, Mallory and Emilee, and also to the Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital, hospice staff and nurses, for their care and support for Billie Jo during her declining health. The family would like to express their deep appreciation for all of the prayers that were prayed for Billie Jo and to hospice chaplain, Richard Slaght. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm on Friday, September 22, 2017 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Church Hill. Friends may also visit anytime at the home of granddaughter, Athena Bradshaw. Funeral services will begin at 7:00 pm on Friday, September 22, 2017 in the funeral home chapel with Preacher Rex McMurray officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Old Union Methodist Church Cemetery. All those wishing to drive in procession are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to offset Billie Jo's medical expenses.
