Eric “Wayne” Cox, 62, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 9, 2026, following a lengthy illness. He was born in Kingsport to the late Tom and Veronia Cox. Wayne served his country in the Army National Guard and the U.S. Navy. He was a 1982 graduate of Sullivan South High School and worked as a long-haul truck driver and a Train Engineer at Eastman Chemical Company. Wayne was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Cox.

Survivors include his loving wife of 29 years, Beverly Cox; daughter, Erika Cox (Austin); brother, Alan Cox (Mary); sister, Kathy Benton (Randall); nephew, Randall Cox (Ashley); along with a host of friends and extended family.

The family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm on Monday, July 13, 2026, at Lynn Garden Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Rick Meade officiating.

A military graveside service will be conducted at 2pm on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Mountain Home National Cemetery with honors conducted by the American Legion Hammond Post #3/265. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:50 p.m.
