Danney Wayne Summey

Danney Wayne Summey, age 72 of Gate City, VA entered into eternal life on Sunday, May 31, 2026. Danney was born on January 25, 1954, in Kingsport, TN to James and Janice Summey. On September 1, 1973, Danney married the love of his life, Brenda Dean, and for the next 52 years they raised a family and shared a beautiful life together.

Danney loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren. Danney enjoyed fishing and hunting, and he found peace spending time outdoors.

Danney was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Mark Summey; one sister-in-law, Angela Summey; and one brother-in-law, James Ramey. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Brenda Summey; son, Chad Summey and wife, Letisha; daughter, Misty Moore and husband, Ronald; three grandchildren, Amethyst Moore, Hailey Summey, and Phoenix Moore; two brothers, Glen Summey and wife, Glenda, and Ronnie Summey; three sisters, Sharon Ramey, Brenda Sue Ramey and husband, Mike, and Claudene Haney and husband, Roger; and many loving nieces, nephews, and other family members.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 4, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Scott County Funeral Home in Weber City. There will be no other formal services.
