With heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of James S. McMurray, the patriarch of our family, at the age of 82. He was a pillar of strength, wisdom, and unconditional love, leaving behind a legacy that will forever live in our hearts. He is now home in Heaven with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. As well as the love of his life and wife of 61 years Mary E. McMurray.

James was the loving father to Tim (Niki), and Traci (Tracy), a proud grandfather to Brittney (Eric), Wade (Caitlin), Hope, Lauren, Megan (Ethan) as well as a cherished great-grandfather to Kylee, Dawson, Waylon, Harper, Clayton, and Ellen.

He is also survived by his sister Reva Larkin Lane; sisters-in-law Bettye McClellan and Faye Montgomery; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Holston View Cemetery. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:50 pm.
