Margaret Rutter

October 3, 1923 — May 21, 2026

Margaret Rutter, age 102, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2026, in Brookfield surrounded by the love and prayers of those who cherished her most. She was born on October 3, 1923, in Milwaukee to Andrew and Elizabeth (nee May) Islo.

Margaret lived a beautiful life centered around faith, family, kindness, and caring for others. After graduating high school, she married the love of her life, Harry Rutter, on April 10, 1943. Together they built a life filled with devotion, compassion, and quiet joys.

A devoted member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Margaret dedicated much of her life to her church family. She faithfully served as the church librarian and found great happiness in helping others and being involved in the congregation she loved so dearly. Her faith guided the way she lived each day; with warmth, grace, and a gentle spirit that made everyone feel welcome.

Margaret found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved going to rummage sales with friends, always excited to find a good bargain and share a laugh along the way. She also loved cooking and caring for others through the meals and memories she created. Margaret had a heart that naturally made people feel at home.

Although she had no children of her own, Margaret loved her nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends deeply and wholeheartedly. She treated them as her own and took great pride in the lives they built. Her love, guidance, and gentle presence will be forever treasured by all who knew her.

Margaret will be remembered for her caring heart, unwavering faith, loving nature, and the kindness she showed to everyone around her. Her life was a blessing, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved her.

Services will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, 1941 Madison Street, Waukesha, WI 53188. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. and continue until the memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at a later date.
