Dr. John Michael DeMarco

Dr. John M. DeMarco, age 80, passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2026, in Punta Gorda, Florida, formerly of St. Clairsville, Ohio.

Dr. DeMarco was born April 2, 1946, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Dr. Michael DeMarco and Dorothy Koehn DeMarco.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Kay; his children, Angela DeMarco of Punta Gorda, Florida; Jennifer (Tim) Norris of Powell, Ohio; Kelly DeMarco of Punta Gorda, Florida; and Gina DeMarco of Prague, Czech Republic; his sisters, Mary Graham, Nancy (Tom) Strom, and Patsy (Jeff) Carroll; three grandchildren, Parker, Katie, and Anthony; one great-grandchild, Tucker; several nieces and nephews; and his dog he adored, Lucy.

Dr. DeMarco was a 1968 graduate of Marshall University, where he played football on a full scholarship. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from The Ohio State University in 1972. He served as an officer in the United States Army at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, from 1972 to 1974.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Punta Gorda, Florida. Before retiring to Florida, Dr. DeMarco practiced dentistry for 37 years in St. Clairsville, Ohio. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, boating, and hunting, and was a devoted fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Most of all, he was happiest spending time with his loving family.

A Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at 11:00 A.M.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Alzheimer’s Association, or Affinity Hospice of Port Charlotte, Florida.
