Eileen T. Moritz
August 14, 1938 — April 1, 2026
Eileen T. Moritz (nee McAllister), 87, of North Port, Florida, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2026, surrounded by her husband and five children. Over the years, she also called Manhattan, Ridgewood, NJ, and Fairfax, VA home, forming deep connections in each community.
Eileen lived a life centered on care, connection, and joy. As a dedicated Registered Nurse and devout Catholic, she spent her life helping others with compassion and kindness, leaving a lasting impact on countless lives.
Eileen embraced life fully and enthusiastically. She found happiness in swimming, reading, and practicing tai chi. She had a deep love for traveling and staying active through tennis and bowling. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her family, especially spoiling her grandchildren, who brought her endless pride and happiness.
Eileen was also deeply involved in her church community and cherished the friendships she maintained over the years, particularly through regular get-togethers with her dear girlfriends—bonds that remained strong throughout her life.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, Lou; and her five children, Lou Moritz (Marilyn), Katherine Shell (West), Barbara Kopka (Ken), Janet O'Rourke (James), and Eileen Nixdorf (Eric); 14 grandchildren, Travis (Caitlin), Dillon (Emily), Colton, Cooper, Grant, Kameron, Ryan, Macallister, Mary, James, Joseph, Collin, Michael and Lauren; as well as great-grandchildren Hadley and Maddox. Many cousins, nieces and nephews will also miss her dearly.
Eileen was a motivating life force who changed the trajectory of everyone with whom she came in contact. A truly loving and inspirational human being. She will be remembered for her warmth, her vibrant spirit, and her unwavering love for those around her. Her legacy of kindness, laughter, thoughtfulness and devotion to family and friends will live on in all who knew her. She was truly one of a kind, a true gem.
Eileen will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
