Frankfort – Barbara Black Bottoms, 91, widow of Glen Bottoms, passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2025. She was born in Mackville, Kentucky on March 27, 1934 to the late Willie Woodrow and Gracie Lee Boswell Black. Barbara was the bookkeeper for Bottoms Engineering and Service, Inc and a 5th Grade Teacher at 2nd Street School.
Barbara supported many charities during her life including Avenues for Women, St Jude, and Shriners. She was instrumental in the creation of the Frankfort Christian Academy. She and her husband Glen supported several pastors and missionaries over the years. She was a generous steward of the blessings she received from our Lord.
She is survived by her daughters, Glenna Loraine Bottoms, Frankfort, Sheila Bottoms Gerkin of Frankfort, Casey Bottoms Hamblen of Trussville, AL, and Melissa Bottoms Bodie (John) of Trussville, AL; her grandchildren, Samantha, Josh (Lori), Whitney, Rachael (Mandy), and Zachary (Ruth); her great grandchildren, Claudia, Jack and George; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Funeral Service will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, June 26, 2025 at Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Rd with Rev. Todd Lester and Steve Bottoms officiating. Burial will follow at Peter Cemetery in Mackville, Kentucky. Serving as Pallbearers will be Eric Norman, Tim Sheehan, Allen Harlow, John Hall, Josh Peffer, and Zachary Peffer. Honorary Pallbearers will be Larry Taylor, Larry Grasch, Donnie Wainscott, and David Herbert. Visitation will be held from 11:00am until 1:00pm on Thursday, June 26, 2025 at Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Rd. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests Memorial Contributions be made to Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church at 495 Duckers Road, Midway, KY 40347.
