Bobby Allen McDonald, 83, of Frankfort, Kentucky passed away peacefully on June 10,2026, in his hometown. Born on September 6, 1942, in Frankfort, Bobby spent his life deeply connected to the community he cherished.
Bobby dedicated over three decades of his professional career to the Kentucky State Government, retiring from the Department of Information Systems. His work reflected a steadfast commitment to serving his state and contributing to its progress through his expertise and dedication.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Linda McDonald. Together they built a loving family that includes five children: Larry McDonald (Katie), Barry McDonald, Alice Ashburn (Steve), Wesley Smith (Debbie), and Courtney Smith McCuddy (Chris). Bobby also leaves behind one brother, George McDonald (Betty), fourteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Alice (Riddle) McDonald, as well as an infant sister.
Bobby’s life was enriched by many passions. He had a special fondness for basset hounds and treasured their companionship. He enjoyed driving Cadillac Escalades and found peace in fishing. A talented musician with a deep love for bluegrass music, Bobby often played the banjo alongside his friends. His weekly poker games brought camaraderie and laughter into his life. An avid reader, he immersed himself in countless books over the years.
Funeral Service will be held at 1:00pm on Monday, June 15, 2026 at Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Rd in Frankfort. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until the time of service on Monday, June 15, 2026 at Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Rd in Frankfort.
