Elva Scales
Jan 31, 1935 — Jul 2, 2026
Elva Scales, 91, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2026 at The Lantern Memory Care Center in Frankfort, KY where she was surrounded by loved ones.
She was born and raised in Pulaski County where she eventually met the love of her life, Bill Scales. Together they built a family with 3 children and were instrumental in teaching kindness, the value of hard work and spirituality. Over the years she had been an active member of her church and taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She worked at Cardinal Hill Hospital as a secretary for many years.
Elva had many interests and stayed busy with her family, her gardens and her passion for quilting. She especially loved children and in addition to her 3 offspring she had 7 grandchildren and was a constant embracing presence in the lives of many neighborhood children scampering along Elm Corner Road. They gravitated to her. She always had time for them and they filled her with joy and laughter. Her wit, her beautiful blue eyes, ready smile, and resolute determination will be greatly missed by us all.
She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Bill Scales. She is survived by her daughter Linda (Mike), son David (Debbie), and daughter Peggy. Her grandchildren are: Lynn (Amber), Calebe (Lauren), Hank, Susie (Noah), Katy (Ryan), Mike, and Shelby. Her great-grandchildren include: Austin, Helen, William, Sophia, Elan, Colt, McKenna, and Avery. Her great-great-grandchildren include: Mason, Grayson and soon to arrive McKinley.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 7th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Clark Legacy Center in Frankfort.
