John Will Davis

John Will Davis, 43, of Benton, Kentucky, was born on August 16, 1982, in Paducah, Kentucky, and passed away on July 4, 2026, in Alexandria, Kentucky.

There are some people whose lives are measured by what they accomplish. John’s life was measured by the people he loved. If you needed help, John showed up. If something was broken, John fixed it. If you were hurting, John prayed with you. If you had a question, John either knew the answer or found it. Helping people wasn’t something John did. It was simply who he was.

However you came to know John, you came to know a man whose kindness left people better than he found them. Those who knew John knew his kindness first. Beneath his quiet confidence was a man of unwavering integrity, deep faith, quiet humility, and extraordinary generosity. He believed loving your neighbor wasn’t simply something to talk about; it was something you lived. If you needed John, he was already on his way.

John was an extraordinarily gifted craftsman whose talents seemed to have no limits. He built bridges, repaired engines, designed graphics, practiced blacksmithing, cooked incredible meals, ran professional sound systems, wrote music, and played guitar and bass with remarkable talent. Many also remember him as “Johnny D,” the familiar voice behind the microphone at WCBL. Whatever captured his curiosity, he learned. Whatever needed fixing, he found a way.

Professionally, John found his calling building bridges. A proud union carpenter and member of Carpenters Local 357 in Paducah, Kentucky, he earned the respect of everyone who worked beside him through his knowledge, work ethic, and willingness to lead by example. As a Bridge Builder and General Foreman, he believed in doing things the right way, not the easy way, and never asked anyone to do work he wasn’t willing to do himself.

The bridges John helped build will carry travelers for generations, but those who knew him understand that his greatest work was never made of concrete and steel. It was found in the people whose lives were stronger because he was part of them. Yet if you had asked John what he was most proud of, he wouldn’t have mentioned his career or his many talents. It would have been his family.

From the very beginning, John’s dream was simple: to build a life centered around the people he loved. Every long day on a bridge, every sacrifice, and every hour spent away from home was for them. Their happiness became his purpose and loving them was the work of his life.

John never cared about impressing people. Character mattered more than appearances, craftsmanship more than convenience, and people more than possessions.

To know John was to know a man who loved deeply, served faithfully, worked tirelessly, laughed freely, and gave generously. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, coworker, mentor, and friend. His absence leaves an immeasurable void, but the example he set of kindness, humility, faith, integrity, hard work, and selfless love, will continue to shape the lives of everyone who knew him.

John is lovingly remembered by his beloved wife, Trish McGarrity Davis; his son, James Geiger, and his wife, Nell; his son, Shane Geiger; his daughter, Saleen Davis; his cherished grandsons, J.J., Silas, Jackson, and Sebastian; his parents, Joe and Johnnie Davis; his brother, Adam Davis; his sister, Amanda Davis; his nieces, Ayssa Morse and Riley Davis; his nephews, Merlin Morse, Jack Marchand, and Joseph Marchand; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, lifelong friends, coworkers, and countless others whose lives were made better by knowing him.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Maydell Riley, and Joe and Marie Davis.

In keeping with John’s wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.
