Robert (Bobby) Allen Carpenter, Jr., 79, widower of Henrietta Tucker Carpenter, passed away gently at his home in Versailles, on Monday, April 13, 2026. He was born on September 22, 1946, in Lexington, Kentucky, to the late Robert A. Carpenter, Sr. and Lucille Ransdell Carpenter. Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death, by his step-son, Mark Ready; Sister-in-law, Rita Reed; Sister-in-law, Brenda Houp; and brother-in-law, Keith Tucker; and numerous fur kids.
Bobby graduated from Bryan Station High School in Lexington, in 1966, and joined the Army, becoming a Vietnam Veteran. When he returned home to Lexington, he married his beloved Henrietta, in 1973, and they made a home until her death in 2024. Bobby worked at Dixie Cup, and the University of Kentucky, in Lexington. After retirement, he worked part-time at Kroger in Versailles.
Those left to cherish him include his bonus son, Christopher Allen Ready, whom he raised; his stepson, Mike Ready (Jennifer), Versailles, KY; his step-granddaughter, Ashley Ready, Versailles, KY; Todd Whalen, Lexington, Ky., his brother, Wayne Carpenter (Roberta), Lexington, KY; his brother-in-law, Allan Tucker (Karen), Lawrenceburg KY; Philip Reed (Barbara), Versailles; sister-in-law, Kay Tucker, of Clay, KY; sister-in-law, Susan Tucker, Versailles, KY; sister-in-law, Glenda
Tucker, Frankfort, sister-in-law, Cheryl Tucker, Versailles, KY, his fur kids, Peanut and Midnight; and special friends, and Aunt and Uncle-in-Law, Charlotte and George Allen; a special friend he met through Hospice, Chaplain David Blevins; and numerous nieces and nephews, many who spent their childhood at Bobby and Henrietta’s home.
Bobby made friends wherever he went, and will be remembered for his love of animals, sense of humor, service to our Country; and compassion for others.
A Military Burial Service will held on Monday, April 20, 2026, at Camp Nelson National Cemetery, Nicholasville, at 11 a.m. Honorary pall bearers will be Mike Ready, Todd Whalen, Keith Shea, David Shea, and Amberlee Leve. Friends and family are welcome to help give Bobby a deserving military send-off to heaven, filled with love. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Bluegrass (Frankfort).
