Sonny Harris
January 10, 1941 — December 14, 2025
Sonny Harris was born on January 10, 1941 in Frankfort, Kentucky. He passed away peacefully on December 14, 2025 at home with his loving wife, Jenell Harris, by his side. Sonny was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He also loved traveling with his wife, visiting places such as Hawaii, Muir Woods, and San Francisco, making many great memories. He retired from HG Mays Corporation where he served as a Plant Manager for many years.
Sonny was deeply rooted in his community and faith as a longtime member of Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church. His hobbies included wood and metal turning, gunsmithing, hunting, and welding. He also enjoyed spending time on his nephew Alvin’s farm, which connected him to the outdoors he loved so much.
In addition to his wife Jenell, he leaves behind his loving children: Mike (Suzanne) Harris, Susie Winters, Melanie (Chris) Rowan, Timmy (Jenn) Swain, Rhodney (Heather) Harris, Rebecca (Rick) Howe, and Kathy (John) Charcho. His grandchildren: Dylan, Maricela, Abby, Leslie, Rachel, Dakota, Warren, Sabrina, Nick, Will, & Jack as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Mattie Harris of Frankfort, an infant twin brother named Buddy, along with eight other siblings, previous wife Jacquelyn Harris, and a daughter Sharon Pratt.
Visitation will be held from 10:00am until 11:00am at Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church on Saturday, December 27, 2025. A service celebrating Sonny’s life will be held at Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church on Saturday, December 27, 2025 from 11:00am with Rev. Todd Lester officiating.
